In 1993, Thea Jarvis started TLC as a children’s home. Over the years, Thea and her daughters Pippa Jarvis and Joanna Jones expanded it into Embrace Village, a holistic community that builds sustainable, resilient communities through programs fostering a sense of belonging. In 2024, Embrace Village continues to thrive with this mission
How we’ve grown…

TLC Children’s Home was founded in response to the urgent need for families for abandoned babies. The Children’s Home cared for over 900 children in its first 30 years.

A support program was implemented to meet the developmental and safeguarding needs of children with varying abilities who remained in permanent care with TLC. Providing them with a supported plan for appropriate independence.

A new program was developed to support, empower, and liberate mothers. Recognizing the need to address the root causes of abandonment and equip vulnerable mothers to retain the maternal bond, this initiative focuses on providing the necessary resources and education to help mothers maintain and strengthen their connection with their children.

Families are most effective when part of a strong community. as part of the holistic long term plan an integrated community program modelled on the philosophy on of ‘village’ life has emerged. Bringing together our beneficiaries in residence and our sustainability goals we are blending all aspects to create a world where everyone can Be-Long.

Embrace Village expanded its offerings to include a business workshop ‘Navigating Adversity’ designed to build resilient communities and healthier workplaces. Originally in-house, they now extend to broader communities and companies, fostering effective interventions and improved relationships, while also making Embrace Village a more sustainable organization.
